The Needs Are Surging This Summer
Sometimes, life blindsides you. It happened to Devin. He had a career in the medical field. He’d been in his apartment for four years. But suddenly, things went sideways. A sharp rent increase. A lease not renewed. And before he knew it—with no time to save up first and last months’ rent and a security deposit to get into a new place—he was on the street.
But even if life blindsides you, sometimes bad things can turn out good. When there’s someone like you, someone who cares, a neighbor in crisis can find a place of shelter. A place of comfort. And real hope for a better future.
Your generous support opened the doors of Springfield Rescue Mission to Devin. Through your heartfelt giving, you were here in spirit. You seated him at the table, served him a good meal, gave him a place to stay. You shared the Good News about new life through faith in Jesus Christ. You welcomed him into our programs, so he could grow spiritually.
This turned out to be more than “just” a place for Devin to sleep. God used your compassion to change his life.
“Faith was never a huge thing in my life,” Devin says today. But discovering the reality of God’s love, “I’ve been completely amazed . . . God had a plan for me!”
