Before coming to the Springfield Rescue Mission, Alex spent six or seven months living in his car.

With no job, worsening health concerns, depression, and anxiety, he felt trapped.

“I was kind of just existing at that point,” Alex shared. “I was just very stuck in life.”

A trusted friend repeatedly encouraged Alex to consider the Springfield Rescue Mission. Although he was hesitant, Alex eventually realized the Mission might be what he needed to escape the situation he could not overcome alone.

At first, having a safe place to sleep brought immediate relief. He received three meals a day, access to showers and laundry, and the comfort of knowing his basic needs would be met. But in the weeks that followed, Alex began receiving something more: reassurance, structure, encouragement, and a path forward.

The steady routine at the Mission is helping Alex understand that caring for himself is an important part of rebuilding his life. “It’s gotten me onto a path,” he explained. “I need to do things for myself in order for everything else to work out.”

Alex has been with us for only two months, so he is taking his journey one day at a time. His hopes for the future are simple but meaningful: return to work, find an apartment of his own, and begin enjoying life again.

Your compassionate support gives men like Alex more than a meal or a safe place to sleep. It gives them the stability, guidance, and time they need to move forward with renewed hope.

Thank you for helping men like Alex find safety, stability, and a new beginning.
