Foundational Services

Springfield Rescue Mission provides basic foundational services to meet the immediate fundamental requirements of people in need.

Taylor Street Short-Stay and Discipleship Men’s Program

The Short-Stay program provides clothing, food and a safe place to sleep for individuals who need to address short-term problems, such as transitioning between jobs or housing situations. It’s a supportive environment where you can step back, reflect on what may not be going well in your life, and plan your next steps toward a better future. Here are the steps required for participation:

Step One: Threshold Eligibility

In order for a candidate to be eligible for admission at Taylor Street Short-Term Programs, the following threshold requirements must be met:

  • Candidate is a male, at least 18 years old and has no children residing with him;
  • Candidate does not require intensive therapeutic intervention for serious mental illness or severe emotional disturbance and/or aggressive behavior, including detoxication; and
  • Candidate does not require 24-hour-a-day nursing care or oxygen support.

If a candidate meets the specifications, then proceed to Step 2.

Step Two: Call Intake Department

The candidate calls our Intake Department at (413) 732-0516 to request an application which can be emailed, mailed or picked up in person at 148 Taylor Street.

Upon receiving an application, the person receiving it must conduct the meeting in step three to ensure eligibility.

Step Three: Meet With Resident Intake Team

The candidate should call our Intake Department at (413) 732–0516 or send an email to mcabrera@springfieldrescuemission.org to set up an in-person appointment. During his meeting with the intake team, the candidate will discuss how SRM can best help him. The team will thoroughly explain all options and answer any questions the candidate may have during this meeting and will determine which program will serve him best.

Requirements for Entering Program:

Prior to entrance into any program, we require that potential residents:

  • Are not under the influence of drugs or alcohol when they arrive. Our facilities employ a strict zero-tolerance policy and testing for both will be performed upon admission to the facility;
  • Are able to identify themselves with government-issued ID;
  • Are willing and able to perform work assignments as needed;
  • Are willing to follow program expectations and responsibilities;
  • Bring their supply of any prescribed medications required by a doctor; and
  • Support our intentional, faith-based, holistic approach to health and healing.
