A Tribute to Harold King

The Springfield Rescue Mission celebrates the life and legacy of Harold King, a faithful supporter, mentor, and friend whose impact will be felt for generations to come.

For over 18 years, Harold championed the mission and message of hope that defines our work. A passionate football fan and a proud supporter of the Green Bay Packers, Harold was known for his sharp wit and sense of humor that often left us smiling and wondering, “Was that a joke?” His joyful presence and authentic personality brought light to every room he entered.

Harold’s commitment to the Mission went far beyond financial support. He recently joined our Board of Directors and was an active participant in many of our fundraising events. But perhaps his greatest contribution was his deep love for people—especially those we serve. That love came to life in his relationship with a man named Miguel, a former program participant who Harold mentored with the heart of a true disciple-maker.

To Harold, mentoring Miguel was not simply a kind gesture or a volunteer role—it was a calling. He poured his heart and soul into sharing his faith, walking alongside Miguel with unwavering dedication. Through Harold’s guidance and the transforming power of the Gospel, Miguel’s life was radically changed—from homelessness and despair to restoration and purpose. Today, over 20 years later, Miguel serves as a Chaplain here at the Mission. He is a devoted husband, a homeowner, and a respected leader in our community—all fruit of the seeds Harold planted.

Harold King leaves behind a legacy of compassion, faith, and action. His absence will be deeply felt by our staff, Board, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was more than a supporter—he was family. We rejoice knowing that Harold is now in the presence of the Savior he so passionately loved and served.

His life reminds us that one person, surrendered to Christ, can truly change the world—one soul at a time.
