About Us

For more than 130 years, the Springfield Rescue Mission has adhered to its mission statement: The goal of the Springfield Rescue Mission since 1892 is to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the hungry, addicted and less fortunate by Bringing Hope and Light to the Community, sharing the love of Christ and helping them to apply the Word of God to every area of their lives.

130 Years of Hope and Healing

Since its humble beginnings in 1892 as a community outreach ministry located above a laundry facility on Stanford Street, SRM has become a leader in providing homeless and low-income individuals in Greater Springfield with a place of safe refuge along with services to meet their most basic needs. Our services are free of charge and independent of direct government assistance.

What We Do

SRM functions as short-stay program, mobile feeding program, a full rehabilitation center and transitional living facility. We provide food, shelter, clothing, medical attention, Christian counseling, literacy training and advocacy, free of charge and funded without direct government assistance. These programs help individuals take meaningful steps toward becoming responsible and productive members of the community. All services are free of charge.
