From Grief to New Life
Ken’s life was shattered by overwhelming loss.
Within just a few months, he lost his grandmother and his grandfather, holding him in his arms during his final moments. Soon after, Ken and his family experienced the sudden loss of his newborn baby.
The grief was unbearable. The weight of these tragedies sent Ken into a downward spiral.
Despite not knowing how to move forward, he did know deep inside, he needed help.
When searching online for support, Ken found the Springfield Rescue Mission and entered our Taylor Street Short-Stay Program. The encouragement he received there led him to take the next step into our New Life Rehabilitation Program. That decision changed everything.
Through discipleship classes, counseling and the caring support of the Mission community, Ken began rebuilding his life on a new foundation of faith. It was here that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and began discovering the hope and purpose he had been searching for.
Ken also participated in the Mission’s Learning Center, completing courses in digital literacy, financial wellness and workforce development gaining the tools he needs to pursue a brighter future.
Today, Ken is looking ahead with renewed hope. His future plans include working part time while exploring educational opportunities to enable him to one day open a small business of his own.
Stories like Ken’s are powerful reminders of the promise of Easter: New life is possible.
Every day at the Springfield Rescue Mission, men and women who arrive broken discover healing, purpose and restoration through the love of Christ.
And it all begins with compassion from friends like you.
Together, we can continue bringing hope, healing and new life to our neighbors in need.
