One of the most rewarding ways to volunteer is to make a meal for the residents in the Men's New Life Rehabilitation Program at the main facility 10 Mill St. or the Emergency Men’s Shelter at 148 Taylor St. This is a tremendous help to the Rescue Mission and provides respite for the SRM Food Service kitchen crew.

Some volunteers provide a meal on a regular monthly basis and others do so as schedules permit. There is no obligation or pressure. Even one time is a blessing to the Rescue Mission!

The following are options for providing a meal:

  • Volunteers are welcome to cook on premise and serve the meal followed by helping to clean up.
  • Volunteers can prepare a meal ahead of time, off premise, and bring in prior to meal time (no later than 4:00 pm) and serve.
  • If volunteers are unable to stay to serve, a meal may be prepared off premise and dropped off to be reheated for the designated meal.

Dinner is served promptly at 5:00 pm at both facilities.

Volunteers/Volunteer Groups should complete a Gift in Kind (GIK) form at the reception desk when providing a meal. This is your tax deduction form and is used for the Rescue Mission’s auditor.

Volunteers and volunteer groups will contact Lenore for scheduling.
