After Richard left the military, he found himself turning inward, consumed with keeping his head down, focused . . . but only on himself, he admits. “The results of this life produced a selfish, rude person.” He says. “I was empty.”
Then fate took everything he had away. “In less than a month, I lost it all,” he says. “My job, home, even the few friends I had left.” His downward spiral continued, and the streets became his only option. “For the first time in my life, I didn’t know what to do,” he recalls.
Then a friend from his past told him about the Springfield Rescue Mission, and our proven Men’s New Life Rehabilitation Program. “He told me that the Lord could set my life on solid ground,” Richard remembers. And he came here, hungry for a meal and so much more . . .
“My time in the program has been well-spent and fruitful,” he nods. “I learned that my life was in ruin because I was trying to fill a void left in my life that only God could fill.”
And Richard’s life is filled today by Christ and he realizes, “the Rescue Mission is providing a place and purpose for my starting over. Instead of myself at the center, my focus is on the Lord!”
Like so many others whose lives have been completely turned around by this ministry we share, Richard is on a positive, productive path – for the first time in years. And he’s grateful for the help his new “family” of friends like you have provided.
“I would sure be encouraged by your prayers,” he smiles, “as together we walk the road of hope and stability God calls salvation!”
